Questions to Ask Breeders
- Is the breeder in good standing with the AKC and ACA?
- Does the breeder participate in conformation and/or performance events?
- Health testing of parents? Are results available?
- Are in person visits available prior to selecting/purchasing?
- Results of puppy exams, shots or wormings?
- Are they microchipped?
- Are pups socialized to household noises, handling, different people surfaces, crate trained, car travel?
- Does breeder or puppy buyer select the pup?
- Age pup will leave the litter?
- Will the breeder take the puppy back, for any reason, during pup’s lifetime?
- Will breeder be available as an advisor?
- Will breeder provide references from vet and/or other puppy buyers?
- Does breeder provide AKC reg papers and 3 generation pedigree?
- Will breeder ship puppy or require direct pick-up?
- Does breeder only breed pets
- Are any restrictions and/or requirements placed on sale?
